Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Sprout LLC ("we," "us," or "our") makes the LikeThis app for iPhone and iPad (the "App"). This Privacy Policy tells you what data the App collects, why we collect it, who receives it, and the choices you have.
The short version:
- Your photos stay on your device. We do not upload them.
- LikeThis has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- We collect app usage data, crash reports and purchase events. We use them to improve the App and to measure our ads.
- We read your device's advertising identifier only if you allow tracking in the iOS prompt. You can change this at any time.
Photos and Camera
The App uses the camera to show the live camera with your reference photo on top and to take photos. It uses your photo library so you can pick reference photos and save your results. The App needs only "add" access to save photos to your Camera Roll.
The App processes all photos on your device. This includes the overlay, the outline, the crop and the before-and-after card. The App stores your reference photos and results in its own storage on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers or to any other company. When you share a photo, it goes only to the app or person that you pick in the iOS share sheet.
If you delete the App, iOS deletes the photos that the App stores in its own storage. Photos that you saved to your Camera Roll stay there.
Information We Collect
App identifier
When you first open the App, it makes a random ID for this installation (the "install ID"). The ID is not connected to your name or Apple Account. The App keeps it in the device Keychain. The App also gives this ID to Apple with each purchase, so that we can match Apple's purchase notices to the installation.
Usage data
The App records events about how you use it. Examples are "session started", "photo taken", "paywall shown" and "purchase completed", with details such as the camera mode, the plan you picked and the app screen. Each event has a time, the app version and a session ID. The App does not put your photos, names or contact details in these events.
Device and install data
The App sends us your device model, iOS version, app version, language and region setting, and App Store country. It also sends your App Tracking Transparency choice. Our server records the IP address of the last connection from the installation.
Advertising data
- Apple Ads: If you installed the App after you tapped an Apple Ads ad, Apple tells the App the campaign, ad group, keyword and ad IDs. This data does not identify you.
- Meta: The App includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK. The SDK records when the App is installed and opened, and it records trials, subscriptions and purchases (product, price, currency and transaction ID). Meta gives each installation an anonymous ID, and the App sends this ID to our server too.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA): The App reads the IDFA only if you tap "Allow" in the iOS tracking prompt. The App then sends it to Meta and to our server.
Purchases
Apple processes all payments, trials and renewals. We never receive your payment details, your Apple Account or your name. Apple sends our server notices about each purchase and renewal. These notices include the product, price, currency, App Store country, offer type, Apple's transaction IDs and the install ID.
Crash reports
If the App crashes or runs slowly, it sends a report. The report includes the device model, iOS version, app version and technical details of the error.
Tracking and Your Choice
After you take your first photo, the App shows a short screen and then the iOS prompt "Allow LikeThis to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?".
- If you tap "Allow": the App and our server send your IDFA, and our server sends your IP address, to Meta with install and purchase events. Meta uses this data to tell us which ads brought new people to the App and to show our ads to people who are more likely to use it.
- If you tap "Ask App Not to Track": the App does not read your IDFA. The App and our server still send events to Meta with the anonymous ID and with the setting "tracking not allowed". Meta can use this data only in the limited ways that Apple and Meta allow, such as total ad results.
You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Your photos are never shared, with either choice.
How We Use Information
- To give you the features of the App and to check if you have LikeThis Pro.
- To understand which features people use, and to make the App better.
- To find and fix crashes and errors.
- To measure which ads bring new users and purchases, and to make our ads better.
- To prevent abuse and keep our systems safe.
We do not use your data to make decisions with legal effects about you.
Who Receives Your Data
We do not sell your personal information. The services below receive data to help us run the App. Each one has its own privacy policy.
- Apple processes purchases and Apple Ads attribution, and it sends us purchase notices. Apple Privacy Policy
- Meta Platforms receives app events through the Meta SDK and through the Meta Conversions API from our server, as described above. Meta Privacy Policy
- TelemetryDeck receives usage events for app analytics. TelemetryDeck replaces device identifiers with a one-way hash and does not store IP addresses. TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy
- Sentry receives crash and performance reports. Sentry Privacy Policy
- Hetzner Online hosts our server in Germany. Our server stores the install, event and purchase data described in this policy. Hetzner Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare hosts this website. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
We can also share data if the law requires it, or if Sprout LLC sells or merges the App. In that case, this policy continues to apply to your data.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Your photos
- Names, email addresses or phone numbers (unless you email us)
- Precise location
- Contacts or address book data
- Payment details or your Apple Account
The App does not use iCloud sync and does not send push notifications.
This Website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or ad trackers. Cloudflare, our host, processes your IP address to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks.
Data Retention
We keep install, event and purchase records on our server while we need them to run the App, to measure our ads and to keep accounting records. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see "Your Rights").
TelemetryDeck, Sentry and Meta keep data under their own retention policies.
Photos in the App stay on your device until you delete them in the App or delete the App.
Your Rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it. Send an email to support@sproutllc.com. Because LikeThis has no accounts, we do not know who you are. To find your records, we can ask for details such as your device model, the date you installed the App, and the date of a purchase.
You can also:
- Turn off tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Reset your advertising identifier or turn off personalized ads in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising.
- Delete the App. When you delete it, the App stops all data collection.
For data that Meta holds, you can also use the tools in your Facebook or Instagram account.
European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, these are our legal bases:
- Consent: to read your IDFA and to use it for ads. You give or take back consent in the iOS tracking setting.
- Contract: to give you the App and the purchases that you make.
- Legitimate interest: for analytics, crash reports, ad measurement without the IDFA, and security.
Some of our service providers process data in the United States. They use legal safeguards for these transfers, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California Residents (CCPA)
We collect the categories of data described above: identifiers (install ID, anonymous Meta ID, IDFA if you allow tracking, IP address), commercial information (purchases), internet or app activity (usage events) and device information. We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow tracking, the use of your data by Meta for ads can be "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. To stop it, turn off tracking in iOS Settings. You have the right to know, delete and correct your data, and we will not treat you differently because you use these rights. Contact us at support@sproutllc.com.
Children's Privacy
LikeThis is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think that a child gave us data, contact us at support@sproutllc.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS for all connections between the App and our server. Access to our server is limited, and our logs remove IP addresses and advertising identifiers. No system is fully secure, but we work to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
We can change this Privacy Policy. When we do, we change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will also tell you in the App or on this website.
